With my Colorado trip coming to an end, I spent my day in Denver at the art museum. I had heard great things on their exhibitions and architecture and wanted to check it out myself. I am so happy I did! I am a sucker for art; call me a nerd all you want! (I am taking AP Art History this year too! Yes I’m excited) I find artwork fascinating and the artists more so! Definitely check this museum out!

I love the layout of the museum. The stairs are funky; they lead upwards like white legos. This is the easiest way to get from place to place because the elevators are SLOW!!! You should wear comfy shoes for this small workout.

My favorite exhibit BY FAR was the Women of Abstract Expressionism.

These powerful women use powerful colors to deliver their message. I took some photos of some pieces I liked. I didn’t enjoy the darker toned ones as much as I loved the bright colors. I also liked thick brush strokes; they seemed to add more movement to the eye and seemed to bold and with a purpose. Pictures are some pieces that I liked the most.

Another exhibit I liked was the “Why We Dance: American Indian Art In Motion.” Out in front of the exhibit was a live artist. (New ones come every week)

This man made art by putting paint on his shoes and he would dance on the canvas. It is such a fun and simple way to make art; maybe I’ll try it out!

Walking into the exhibit, projectors were strung from the wall and played videos and Native Americans dancing. They wore beautiful traditional clothing and they played drums to the beat, their feet in sync.

I took more photos of art I enjoyed and they are pictured below!

I definitely enjoy colorful pieces as you can tell!

This museum is so big, there is another building! We walked across an indoor bridge to get to the other place.

In there, it seemed to be exhibits that are always there (rather than the ones from above which are only exhibited for a while).

There was definitely more art here. I liked how they divided each floor by different countries and styles. They had Asian and European and then contemporary and textiles. They layout was so pleasing to the eye.

Sadly I had to speed up my time here so I only got to see each floor briefly. Again, here are some more photos!

All in all I LOVED spending time at this museum. I would love to come back and see the exhibits more in-depth!
